âś…I have always been a strong advocate of the decisive role of family in the sustainable performance of an assignee abroad and wrote a lot about it.

âś…The pandemic has clearly shed light on this close link between family experience/adjustment, psychological effect of an expat and the consistent (or not) performance of the assignee. (see slides attached)
âś…When I speak about “family experience”, I’d like to go beyond the key, well-accepted role, of the following partner, but extend it to the various roles of other accompanying persons (children, family member, etc.).
This is a whole specific supportive system that is moving abroad and that needs to be helped before, during and after.

❗️As we see at the moment, in the field of global mobility, sudden unexpected expat returns to their home countries, not without psychological consequences, there is again a reminder for the field to start re inventing global HR management to better fit
